Preparation

Some great low-salt items to keep on hand for your homemade pizzas are:

  1. Packaged yeast (rapid rise), will keep in your refrigerator for a year!
  2. Olive oil
  3. Flour, white or whole wheat
  4. Canned pineapple (buy small cans, one per recipe)
  5. Pesto (choose lowest salt brand; buy small jars, one per recipe, or make your own ahead and freeze.)
  6. Canned tomato paste
  7. Ground beef (keep frozen in small amounts, microwave to defrost)
  8. Sun dried tomatoes (choose lowest salt brand)
  9. Fresh green or red peppers
  10. Canned roasted red peppers (choose lowest salt brand)
  11. Any leftover meat, chicken, or seafood.
  12. Ricotta cheese
  13. Mozzarella cheese (keep frozen)
  14. Goat cheese
  15. Garlic
  16. Onions
  17. Mushrooms
  18. Any fresh vegetables
  19. Any fresh herbs, or dried oregano and parsley
